Default give everyone free electricity for a year

i have come up with a rather lame plan to kickstart the economy,i suggest that the state should subsidise free electricity for one year. every house and business would get free electricity.it would help small business' it would really help manufacturing business and it would ease the burden on householders slightly,i have no idea of the costing of such a scheme.

So, you admit that you've no idea what your idea cost, you don't address the fact that use of energy (which has an ecological cost) would cease to have a cost at the point of delivery thereby causing greater environmental damage without a link to the usefulness or desirability of the activity, and you expect us all to hail this as a great idea?

I *knew* George Lee posted here!

Not lame. Quite a good suggestion I think. Everyone benefits and it might even free up some money for "stuff" - because the economy won't really recover until people are back buying stuff they don't need and right now few are.

i said it was a lame idea, the enviroment must take second place for the next few years, the people are more important, every thead about competitivty has moaned about energy costs,if this cost was taken out of the equation for one year would it help the economy, i think it would

Well giving people 'free' water seems to work well . Why not 'free' electricity also ?
I mean it exists in nature, man . Why pay for what nature gives us for free?

this is a simple plan ,not convoluted like NAMA, the country need some sort of stimulus the ESB and BORD GAIS are both state owned AIRTRICITY might be a bit miffed but i think it is a doable plan, if anyone wants a free pony instead of free electricity ,that can probably be arranged too
