Default Local Elections - 2009

I appreciate that these locals are quite a while off but some general questions on the mulhuddart ward and castleknock elections.

- Apart from Gerry Lynam, who do FF relaistically have lined up?
- I suspect Margaret Richardson will not stand "but you never know"
- Will Sinn Fein bounce back, i suspect they will, perfect for local issues!
- Will joe run for a councillor spot?
- Who will FG replace Varadkar with?

Just some general discussion thought!

i would guess that roderic o gorman of the greens would have another go at the castleknock ward. He should have a higher profile this time out.
I know it's early days but the current PD seat has to be a target for all and sundry?

it is too early to call this, but I reckon the boundary review will have an effect on the Dublin West Wards, either both could become five seaters or dublin west could be split into three three seaters, Castleknock (3), Mulhuddart-Tyrellstown-Waterville (3) and Ongar- Clonsilla (3). I know that some of the unsuccessful candiates in 04 who are still active in the area are hoping to run again in 2009 and some have switched party alliances since then. Time will tell I suppose

You could be right but I think 2 x 5 seat LEAs would be more likely. Lynam for FF, yes O'Donovan for Lab, yes, Gallagher for SF yes. No PD, FG, Grn or other candidates forthcoming yet it seems.

I myself would like to see them as five seater, but I reckon most of the sitting councillors in each ward would be against this, as if they were both five seaters, the big three parties FF, FG and Labour would be running two candidates in each ward. I reckon we could see Tom Morrissey come back to Castleknock ward as an pd (or independent if the pd's are not around). But as before we will not see any movemnet on the locals till summer 2008.

I hear Labour have 2 new candidates set for the locals with the former PD candidate unlikely to be given the party nomination.

The SP in all likelhood would run two candidates in each. With Joe Higgins standing, the SP would expect to win three seats out of ten.
