| The Criminal Assets Bureau should apply to seize church assets now that it has been established that State funds earmarked to educate children has been siphoned off to feather the nests of Catholic church clergy. This is a criminal matter, which needs to lead to criminal prosecutions and asset seizures and disposals. The Catholic church in its various guises should be treated no differently to Anglo Irish Bank/National Irish Bank, to a practice of corrupt solicitors, or to a gang of drug barons. |

| They're being treated exactly the same as the bankers - they got away with passing their liabilities onto the state too.

| How about FF assets? That party has put it self before the country at EVERY opportunity presented (100% of the time since CJH became leader ). They all should be charged with racketeering, down to the last cuman member. The corruption is so ingrained they don't even recognized it as such anymore.

| Could one or more respondents (or others) please elaborate: 1. Why assets can't be seized (from a legal perspective): crimes have been committed, and that such crimes have been committed has been uncontested; there has been financial gain from these crimes which is now partly tied up in existing church assets. 2. Why assets won't be seized (from a bureacratic/political/cultural perspective). I'd welcome elaboration. FYI: The following is from the Dept. of Justice website The Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform: Criminal Assets Bureau "Criminal Assets Bureau The role of the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) is to confiscate, freeze or seize criminal assets. Its work also includes ensuring that criminal proceeds are subjected to tax and investigation, and determining the eligibility of claims for social welfare benefits or assistance by criminals or suspected criminals." |
