Good! Everybody should be doing everything they can to encougare strikes in the PS. I can think of no better solution to our current woes than to pay Unemployment benefit to all PS workers while they strike. We'd save a fortune on our current wage bill and a six month strike would balance the books nicely.

so in real terms this DOESNT affect politicians like an increment cut would affect the civil service as its NEVER been paid and exists solely becauses a politician implemented it.

seeing as this is patently just a kick back "for the boys" as it only goes to those that got re-elected i dont see how it can be justified in a recession. after all its an HONOR to serve your nation, not a ticket to ride.

for those that forgot, politics is a vocation - not a career, and this increment is just an anachronism of a time of largess that we cant afford. politicians already get a pay increase inline with the higher end of the civil serice, they dont need this.

all public sector workers will get their increments as normal this year (unless they have exceeded the scale)...td's are and should be no different....silly thread
