Default Bush ripped a new one in Newsweek.

The latest edition of Newsweek has a scathing indictment of Bush, his management style, and his response to Katrina.

It is titled "How Bush Blew It"

Quote:
The reality, say several aides who did not wish to be quoted because it might displease the president, did not really sink in until Thursday night. Some White House staffers were watching the evening news and thought the president needed to see the horrific reports coming out of New Orleans. Counselor Bartlett made up a DVD of the newscasts so Bush could see them in their entirety as he flew down to the Gulf Coast the next morning on Air Force One.

How this could be—how the president of the United States could have even less "situational awareness," as they say in the military, than the average American about the worst natural disaster in a century—is one of the more perplexing and troubling chapters in a story that, despite moments of heroism and acts of great generosity, ranks as a national disgrace
This article cuts to the bone. Lets see how Rove & McLennan try to spin their way out of this one.

If you thought that was good, try this from Salon.Com

On this anniversary, surrounded by the wreckage of four years of disastrously bad government, we must confront a profoundly disturbing reality. The performance of George W. Bush as president has proved to be far worse than even his most alienated critics could have predicted. His administration is far less concerned with our security than with its own self-serving ideology and its petty abuses of office.

Four years ago, as we contemplated potential threats from the enemies of civilization, it was impossible to conceive of the vast damage that our own government would inflict upon America before those enemies could strike again. The danger from the perpetrators of 9/11 has not abated, and suddenly we know how vulnerable we remain -- because the federal officials who have sworn to defend us, beginning with the president, have neither the character nor the competence to fulfill that oath.

Something tells me they wont have to, Newsweek are somewhat discredited and this is of course pretty much an opinion piece

Get the flock out of here!

The only sheeple still swallowing that BS are the dwindling numbers of sufferers of Rovian Mind Control (tm) techniques.

In terms of trust, there is a heck of a lot more in Newsweek then there is in the current White House.

An excellent article and an inspiration to all journalists-it should win a pulitzer!

Newsweek have only been discredited, in my eyes, because of their apology on the whole Koran fiasco.

They were not in the wrong, and should not have caved to the White House spin machine like they did. It showed a very weak will on their part.
