Default Culture Night (tonight)

Just a quick note on the late openings in Galleries/Archives/museums and etcetera.

There quite a line up at the Poetry gathering @ the Unitarian on St Stephen's Green with Poetry ireland;

http://www.culturenight.ie

Lots of lovely things to do and not many of us asking how it was all funded but am pretty sure
re-zoning initiatives don't come into it. As most people who would visit St Pats and Christchurch
would know it's usually a fiver in ;but the crypt tours are free tonight.

also the National Archives and Library are open.

The full list is at link and it is a nice evening to like get off de computer and go walkabout

or we could all be wondering about the girl on girl/boy on boy action on the GAA thread,
I am wondering why the Kerry Girl's knickers do not match her wee top.

Had to Cinderella it, my but it was weird to see Ulick O Connor do a poetry slam.
(he colour codes his MSS- which is quite intriguing)

He was followed by a slammer from L.A, screaming botox and liposuction.
But can't be arsed doing a review. There were some really talented kids and
a man..,

The man outside had three kids, one of the kids said 'whats a Unitarian church anyway',
to which daddy replied 'lets go elsewhere' and I suggested he bring them in for the pomes
to which he replied 'Too subversive'

anyway thats how you educate irish kids about culture and religion, they'll be putting
fig leaves on the naughty bits next.

Brought the nipper around a few places tonight. Sadly Leinster House and the Long Room in Trinity were pre-booked out. Although we ran into Minister Hanafin on her way in, so that was interesting in itself.
It's a great idea, especially in relation to some of those places, like the RIA, that aren't normally very accessible to the public. They should do it more often.

Why, why was it interesting to meet Mary- she usually shops in Grafton Street
and I often have seen the ex-Tánaiste toddle into a shopping centre for the books and newspapers
in a shopping centre near where I live. We even came nose to nose when he politely opened the
door for me.

O look ! A P-o-l-i-t-i-c-i-a-n.

You know there's some strange ones eating in Cornucopia all the time. I think they fancy
something like projecting normalacy sometimes. Also I happen to know one who has a rather
strange fetish for women's footwear- cos he puts down his newspaper at the traffic lights to study
the shoes and boots of all the ladieez ( a lot, in political season).

It's nice to see people walking round the city, going from venue to venue and seeing whats
happening, there's a good vibey.

It was interesting because she was breaking the law at the time.
But she soon stopped and headed into Leinster House. She was very polite and nice to the nipper though.
Sounds like you could do with a few less pints and a bit more culture yourself, Dot?

If I was going to extrapolate further, I would have done so already.
That's enough off-topic, in any case. Culture Night is a genuinely good idea that deserves discussion and encouragement.

Why didn't you go to a fiction reading event and spare us the sub Ellroy or just send it to a publisher. You'll get used to the rejections
