My reaction would be to save the ibex.
Is one person out of 6 billion [and growing] too high a price to pay for
the survival of a whole species
Do we save the son of a b.... just because he is our son of a b....
Is anti chauvinism allowed across species.
Nobody said there were any females left

What kind of animal is this Walia Ibex? Size? Bird, mammal, reptile?

Why is it only possible to save one of the two?

Save the man. There's the possibility that the two of you together may be able to save the animal. Human life comes before animals I'm afraid, even if the animals are often the more loveable.

Don't you think the dilemma as described is lacking in detail?

Your well out of communication, surrounded by quicksand, no way of knowing if all your plans have fallen apart. you could be lost for ages.

You save the Ibex-
You cant eat the man. (not as easily anyway)
