Carey's piece was as facile as it was deluded - full of cliche and silly analogising. It's also a woefully stupid assessment of the current situation. It's an appeal to the hard-core wooden-brained Fianna Fail voters who still don't get what has just happened: that their heroes all turned out to be liars and thieves; that the best of them turned out to be the most incompetent people in Ireland. Carey doesn't even begin to understand what has brought the economic disaster upon us. But then being as silly and smug as she is, that's understandable. |
