I wonder whose opinions you would trust - 20 leading economic lights from all our main Universities and institutions - or Brian Lenihan, the Dep of Finance and Peter Bacon, late of Ballymore Properties.

God - why are we even asking the question - we know the same old story here

FF - "they're all talking B+llox - we're not for turning"

2 weeks later - another 5 billion into the banks - "its not nationalisation folks"

4 weeks after that - another 2.5 billion for fingers old mob - "its not nationalisation folks"

8 weeks later - "on mature recollection (thanks dad) we have decided given the urgency of the situation we find ourselves due to the global recession and events beyond our control - we have decided that the nationalisation of X bank or bank was the only recourse left open to us to avoid the systemic collapse of the Irish banking sector............ya de ya de ya"

Get yis down to your local turf accountant this morning and place your bets on the above happening - its got better odds than the whole NAMA project as currently stands succeeding.
