Default Cowen reaping his and bumbling Bertie's harvest

Great poll for FG- and Labour somewhat. We need a FG/LB Govt. to bring competency back to national politics after bumbling Bertie (with Cowen as Minister for Finance) for ten years.

While the poll is VERY VERY encouraging for me as a FG supporter I know- and all FG members/supporters should know- that the party faces a huge battle to replace FF as the largest party in the Republic. Indeed FG would settle with just being in power but this poll along with another poll last year which had the party's very close alongside the great result FG had in the LE and EE last time shows that the appetite in there amongst the public for FF to be replaced as the largest party.

I won't go into that whole issue now as a new thread will need to be started on it but its striking that a lot of people think that FG and FF are merely two cheeks of the same arse. There IS a BIG cultural difference between FG and FF and FG will need to fight as hard as Barack Obama and his campaign workers in the US currently to get into Govt. next time and even (it's there for the taking) replacing FF as the largest party.
